3G手機電池充電器的解決方案

       所有3G手機都采用鋰離子電池作為主電源。由于散熱及空間的限制,設計師必須仔細考慮選用何種類型的電池充電器,以及還需(xu)要哪些特性來確(que)保對電池進行安全及精確(que)的充(chong)電。

  線性鋰離子電池充電器的一個明顯趨勢是封裝尺寸繼續減小。但值得關注的是在充電周期(尤其在高電流階段)冷卻IC所需的板空間或通風條件。充電器的功耗會使IC的接合部溫度上升。加上環境溫度,它會達到足夠高的水平,使IC過熱并降低電路可靠性。此外,如果過熱,許多充電器會(hui)停止(zhi)(zhi)充(chong)電周(zhou)期,只(zhi)(zhi)有(you)當接合(he)部溫(wen)(wen)度下降后(hou)才(cai)恢(hui)復(fu)工作。如果這種(zhong)高溫(wen)(wen)持續(xu)存在(zai),那么(me) 充(chong)電器“停止(zhi)(zhi)和開始(shi)”的反(fan)復(fu)循(xun)環也將繼續(xu)發生(sheng),從(cong)而延長充(chong)電時(shi)間(jian)(jian)。為減少這些風險,用戶只(zhi)(zhi)能選(xuan)擇減小充(chong)電電流來(lai)延長充(chong)電時(shi)間(jian)(jian)或增(zeng)大板面積(ji)來(lai)散(san)熱。因此(ci),由于(yu)增(zeng)加了PCB散(san)熱面積(ji)及(ji)熱保護材料(liao),整(zheng)個系統成本(ben)也將上升。

  對此問題有兩種解決方案。首先,需要一種智能的線性鋰離子電池充電器,它不(bu)必(bi)為擔心散熱(re)而犧牲(sheng)PCB面積(ji),并采用一種(zhong)小(xiao)型的(de)(de)熱(re)增強封(feng)裝,允許(xu)它監(jian)視自(zi)己的(de)(de)接(jie)合部溫(wen)(wen)度(du)以(yi)防止過熱(re)。如果達(da)到預(yu)設(she)的(de)(de)溫(wen)(wen)度(du)閾值,充(chong)電(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)能自(zi)動(dong)減少(shao)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)流(liu)以(yi)限(xian)制功耗,從而使(shi)芯片溫(wen)(wen)度(du)保持在安全水平。第二(er)種(zhong)解決方案是使(shi)用一種(zhong)即使(shi)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)流(liu)很高時也(ye)幾乎不(bu)發熱(re)的(de)(de)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)。這要求使(shi)用脈沖(chong)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi),它是一種(zhong)完全不(bu)同于線(xian)性充(chong)電(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)的(de)(de)技術。脈沖(chong)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)依靠經(jing)過良好調節且電(dian)(dian)流(liu)受限(xian)的(de)(de)墻上適配器(qi)(qi)來(lai)充(chong)電(dian)(dian)。

  方案一 : LTC4059A線性(xing)電(dian)(dian)(dian)池充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)  LTC4059A是一款用(yong)于單節(jie)鋰離子(zi)電(dian)(dian)(dian)池的(de)(de)線性(xing)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi),它(ta)無需使用(yong)三個分立功(gong)率(lv)器(qi)件(jian),可(ke)快速(su)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)而(er)不(bu)用(yong)擔(dan)心系統(tong)過熱。監視器(qi)負責報告充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流值(zhi),并(bing)指示(shi)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)是何時(shi)與(yu)輸(shu)入電(dian)(dian)(dian)源連接的(de)(de)。它(ta)采用(yong)盡可(ke)能(neng)小的(de)(de)封裝(zhuang)但(dan)沒有犧牲(sheng)散(san)熱性(xing)能(neng)。整個方案僅需兩個分立器(qi)件(jian)(輸(shu)入電(dian)(dian)(dian)容器(qi)和一個充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流編程電(dian)(dian)(dian)阻),占位面積為2.5mm×2.7mm。 LTC4059A采用(yong)2mm×2mm DFN封裝(zhuang),占位面積只有SOT-23封裝(zhuang)的(de)(de)一半,并(bing)能(neng)提供大約60℃/W的(de)(de)低熱阻,以(yi)提高散(san)熱效率(lv)。通過適(shi)當的(de)(de)PCB布局及散(san)熱設計,LTC4059A可(ke)以(yi)在(zai)輸(shu)入電(dian)(dian)(dian)壓為5V的(de)(de)情況下(xia)以(yi)最高900mA的(de)(de)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流對單節(jie)鋰離子(zi)電(dian)(dian)(dian)池安(an)全(quan)充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)。此外,設計時(shi)無需考(kao)慮(lv)最壞情況下(xia)的(de)(de)功(gong)耗(hao),因(yin)為LTC4059A采用(yong)了專利的(de)(de)熱管理技術(shu),可(ke)以(yi)在(zai)高功(gong)率(lv)條件(jian)(如環境溫度過高)下(xia)自動減小充(chong)(chong)電(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流。

  方案二 :帶過流保護功能的LTC4052脈沖充電器  LTC4052是一款全集成的脈沖充電器,用于單節4.2V鋰離子/鋰聚合物電池。當輸入電壓為5.25V并以0.8A電流進行快速充電時,LTC4052的功耗大約為280mW,而線性充電器解決方案的功耗則高達1.8W。與采用電感來獲得高效率和低散熱的開關充電器不同,LTC4052采用無電感設計。利用LTC4052設計的700mA至2A鋰離子/鋰聚合物電池充電器電(dian)路僅占(zhan)70mm2 的(de)(de)面積 ,且(qie)高度低(di)于1.7mm。通過將功耗減至最低(di)水平,LTC4052可放寬終端(duan)設備對熱(re)設計的(de)(de)要求,允許采(cai)用更(geng)小的(de)(de)封裝、更(geng)小的(de)(de)散(san)熱(re)氣(qi)流以及更(geng)小的(de)(de)PCB面積,而(er)且(qie)能(neng)消除(chu)熱(re)點(dian),從而(er)無需(xu)使(shi)用散(san)熱(re)片(pian)或風扇(shan)。

  LTC4052需要一(yi)個(ge)電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)流受限的(de)(de)(de)墻(qiang)(qiang)上(shang)適配(pei)器(qi)(qi)(qi),以(yi)(yi)控(kong)制充電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)流的(de)(de)(de)大小。它(ta)還需配(pei)備過(guo)流保(bao)(bao)護(hu)電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)路,以(yi)(yi)便(bian)在意外(wai)使用(yong)較高電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)流或(huo)墻(qiang)(qiang)上(shang)適配(pei)器(qi)(qi)(qi)發生(sheng)故(gu)障(zhang)時(shi)能提(ti)供保(bao)(bao)護(hu)。LTC4052是(shi)一(yi)款全集成(cheng)的(de)(de)(de)脈沖(chong)充電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)(qi),無需使用(yong)外(wai)部MOSFET或(huo)阻(zu)流二極管 (見圖)。這(zhe)款獨立的(de)(de)(de)充電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)器(qi)(qi)(qi)IC具(ju)有(you)C/10檢測(ce)、充電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)狀(zhuang)態指示、充電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)結束定時(shi)器(qi)(qi)(qi)、墻(qiang)(qiang)上(shang)適配(pei)器(qi)(qi)(qi)檢測(ce)及(ji)過(guo)流保(bao)(bao)護(hu)等功能。LTC4052的(de)(de)(de)輸入電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)源可以(yi)(yi)是(shi)4.5V到(dao)12V,并(bing)具(ju)有(you)1%的(de)(de)(de) 飄(piao)移(yi)電(dian)(dian)(dian)(dian)壓(ya)精(jing)度。
