正確選擇與應用好便攜式電子設備

如今的便攜式電子設備中電池技術包括電量檢測算法、電池充電算法與電池充電技術等幾個方面。眾所周知,充電式電池化學反應有鎳鎘、鎳氫、鋰離子和鋰聚合物4種程式,作為便攜式電子設備來說,雖然這4種電池程式各有特點,但從能量密度與安全性角度的發展與實踐可知,鋰離子電池和鋰聚合物電池的優勢己成為小型長運行時間的設備的理想之選,比如筆記本電腦以及基于硬盤的PMP等。對便攜式電子設備工程師來說,正確選擇與應用好便攜式電子設備中電池技術至關重要,值此本文將對此作研討,并作應用舉例分析。

1、關于細流充電、快速充電和穩定充電的電池充電算法
根據最終應用的能量需求,一個電池組可能包含最多4個鋰離子或鋰聚合物電池芯,其配置可有多種變化,同時帶有一個主流的電源適配器:直接的適配器、USB接口或汽車充電器。除去電芯數量、電芯的配置或電源適配器類型上的差別,這些電池組都有同樣的充電特性。因此它們的充電算法也一樣。鋰離子與鋰聚合物電池最好的充電算法可以分為3個階段:細流充電、快速充電和穩定充電。

1.1 細流充電
用于對深度(du)放(fang)電(dian)(dian)(dian)的(de)電(dian)(dian)(dian)芯(xin)進行充電(dian)(dian)(dian)。當電(dian)(dian)(dian)芯(xin)電(dian)(dian)(dian)壓在(zai)低(di)于大約2.8V時,用一個恒定的(de)0.1C的(de)電(dian)(dian)(dian)流(liu)為它充電(dian)(dian)(dian)。

  1.2 快速充電
電芯電壓超過細流充電的門檻時,提高充電電流進行快速充電。快速充電電流應低于1.0C。

1.3 穩定電壓
在快速充電過程中,一旦電芯電壓達到4.2V,穩定電壓階段就開始了。這時可通過最小充電電流或定時器或這兩者的聯合來中斷充電。當最小電流低于大約0.07C時,可中斷充電。定時器則要靠一個預設的定時器來觸發中斷。

高級的電池充電器通常帶有附加的安全功能。比如,如果電芯溫度超出給定窗口,通常是0℃--45℃,充電就會暫停。

除(chu)去某些非常低端的(de)設(she)備(bei),現在市面上的(de)鋰離子/鋰聚合物電(dian)池充電(dian)方案都集成或(huo)是(shi)(shi)帶有外置(zhi)的(de)元件,以便按(an)照充電(dian)特(te)性進(jin)行充電(dian),這不光(guang)是(shi)(shi)為(wei)了取得更佳(jia)充電(dian)效果,同時也是(shi)(shi)為(wei)了安全。

  1.4 鋰離子/聚合物電池的充電算應用舉例-雙輸入1.2A鋰電池充電器LTC4097
LTC4097可用于交流適配器或USB電源為單節鋰離子/聚合物電池充電。圖1為雙輸入1.2A鋰電池充電器LTC4097示意圖。它采用恒定電流/恒定電壓算法充電,從交流適配器電源充電時,可編程充 電電流高達1.2A,而用USB電源則可高達1A,同時自動檢測在每個輸入端是否存在電壓。該器件還提供USB限流。應用包括PDA、MP3播放器、數碼 相機、輕型便攜式醫療和測試設備以及大彩屏蜂窩電話。其性能特點:無需外部微控制器終止充電;輸入電源自動檢測和選擇;通過電阻從交流適配器輸入充電的可編程充電電流高達1.2A;通過電阻的可編程 USB充電電流高達1A;100%或20% USB充電電流設置;輸入電源存在輸出和NTC偏置(VNTC)引腳具120mA驅動能力;NTC熱敏電阻輸入(NTC)引腳用于溫度合格的充電;預設置電池浮動電壓具±0.6%的準確度;熱調節最大限度地提高充電速率且無過熱風LTC4097可用于交流適配器或USB電源為單節鋰離子/聚合物電池充電。其采用恒定電流/恒定電壓算法充電,從交流適配器電源充電時,可編程充電電流高達1.2A,而用USB電源則可高達1A,同時自動檢測在每個輸入端是否存在電壓。該器件還提供USB限流。應用包括PDA、MP3播放器、數碼 相機、輕型便攜式醫療和測試設備以及大彩屏蜂窩電話。


2、鋰離子/聚合物電池充電方案
鋰離子/聚合物電池的充電方案對于不同數量的電芯、電芯配置以及電源類型還是不同的。目前主要有3種主要的充電方案:線性,Buck(降壓)開關和SEPIC(升壓與降壓)開關。

2.1 線性方案
當充電器輸入電壓大于全充滿電芯加上充足凈空之后的開路電壓時,最好用線性方案,特別是1.0C快速充電電流不比1A大太多時。比如,MP3播放器通常只有一個電芯,容量從700到1500mAh不等,滿充開路電壓是4.2V。MP3播放機的電源通常是AC/DC適配器或者是USB接口,其輸出是規則的5V;這時,線性方案的充電器就是最簡單、最有效率的方案。圖2所示為鋰離子/聚合物電池充電方案線性方案,基本結構和線性電壓規整器一樣。

線性方案的充電器應用例舉-雙輸入Li+充電器及智能電源選擇器MAX8677A MAX8677A是雙輸入USB/AC適配器線性充電器,內置Smart Power Selector,用于由可充電單節Li+電池供電的便攜式設備。該充電器集成了電池和外部電源充電和切換負載所需的全部功率開關,因此無需外部 MOSFET。MAX8677A理想用于便攜式設備,例如智能手機、PDA、便攜式多媒體播放器、GPS導航設備、數碼相機、以及數碼攝像機。
